WTDC 21 – The International Telecommunication Union, through its Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), organizes a World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) every four years in the period between two Plenipotentiary Conferences to consider topics, projects and programmes relevant to telecommunication development. WTDCs set the strategies and objectives for the development of telecommunication/ICT, providing future direction and guidance to the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D). The ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference WTDC-21 will be hosted by the Government of Ethiopia. The conference will take place in Addis Ababa from 8-19 November 2021.
Under the theme “Connecting the unconnected to achieve sustainable development” WTDC-21 is a unique opportunity to develop innovative approaches and new models of collaboration for connectivity and digital solutions in this final Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs .
WTDC-21 will be a landmark digital development conference and a unique opportunity for the global community to develop innovative approaches and forge new models of collaboration to overcome digital development challenges and accelerate connectivity and digital solutions in the final Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).The outcomes and key conclusions of each session will be documented in the “The Connectivity Road to Sustainable Development” booklet. This booklet constitutes the main deliverable of the Road to Addis Series, and will be launched in the wrap up event on September 2021 during the UN General Assembly.
